about

Since I made my Playdate game, Due to Rain, I've had a desire to make a song that began with 22.05kHz.
The song I made for the game was originally made in 48kHz, but I downsampled it for the console. I didn't need to, but it just *felt* right.

When I began this, I wasn't sure how well things were going (this seems to be on par with how I've felt in the past). After switching the sound of a (previous) core instrument and then adjusting the notes for it, I began to like it much more.

I didn't start this one with a loop. I had an overall feeling that I was going for and progressed through it almost linearly. Once I had a decent feeling for the song, I went through it multiple, multiple, multiple times to adjust it. Sarah helped me with a part in the centre that I had lost when returning to it after a break. She guided me to recapture a feeling that evoked her.
She says that part is now much better than the original version. c:

The little gaps in the melody near the end were a happy accident that just *kept* happening. I suppose that's how I feel with this entire track - a bunch of happy accidents that came out to be something beautiful.

about

ribboncable Portland, Oregon

I've always wanted to make music.
Though, I've continuously psyched myself out.
But thanks to my partner Sarah (sarahduck), I'm without fear. <3
